The N.C. Wesleyan College women’s basketball team split a pair of games held over the weekend.
The Bishops held off Pfeiffer University to defeat their USA-South conference foe 78-71 on the road Saturday afternoon.
The win was the Bishops’ fourth straight as they improved to 8-7 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
The game was moved to Pfeiffer (6-10, 2-6) at the last minute due to the winter storm in Rocky Mount. The teams will meet again on Feb. 6, but at Wesleyan this time.
The Wesleyan women got off to a strong start, leading 22-11 after the first quarter.
Pfeiffer then cut into the Bishop lead some to take the second quarter 21-14, but Wesleyan still led at the half 29-23.

Wesleyan shot 43.5 percent overall and made 18 of 23 free throws while Pfeiffer shot 39 percent but made nine three-pointers.
Junior forward Kayrisma Harrison led the Bishops with a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds with a block and two steals while senior point guard Keorra Taylor had her best game of the year scoring a season-high of 19 points to go along with five assists and four steals.
