School students were among 45 volunteers who pitched in at Grange Paddocks for the 62nd litter-picking mission by TUBS (Tidy Up Bishop’s Stortford).
The group met on Saturday morning (March 12) and filled 69 sacks with litter from the paddocks and Rye Street areas.
TUBS co-ordinator Ian Hudson said: “It was great to see some stalwarts as well as a lot of new faces, including a group of students from The Bishop’s Stortford High School. We met a number of people who want to be involved in future.”
TUBS is a group of volunteers who want to make Stortford a tidier place and persuade others to pick up litter and not to drop it. They meet every two months on a Saturday morning from 10am for a two-hour tidy-up of a different part of the town.
It recently lent some of its equipment to Hillmead Primary School and staff from CPL Aromas will be borrowing some later this month.
Its next clear-up will be on May 14, meeting at Sainsbury’s at Thorley Park and clearing the Thorley Wedge area.
