LAPLACE — The perfect dress has been selected, the matching tux has been rented, and plans have been made. St. Charles Catholic High School juniors and seniors have ordered corsages and boutonnieres, made pre-prom dinner arrangements, and secured a flashy vehicle for arrival at what hopes to be one of the most memorable evenings of the school year…prom.  But, what about after prom?

Fortunately, SCC students have a great option. The After Prom Party has provided a fun and safe way to end an evening for 17 years.  It has proven to be a great time for all who attend, and there’s the opportunity to win some great prizes.

Plans are well underway for the 2022 St. Charles Catholic High School After Prom Party on April 9. This year’s event should prove to be fun and exciting! It will ensure that the students have a safe (drug and alcohol-free, supervised) evening after the dance.

St. Charles’ After Prom Party is a fun and rewarding event held for the students from 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the gym. Throughout the night, students play a variety of games to fill up punch cards to place in prize buckets for random drawings. One set of drawings will be pulled at midnight and the other at 1:15 a.m. These table prizes are valued at $100 or more and include things such as Vera Bradley sets, TV’s, wireless speakers and other electronics, luggage, kitchen appliances and beauty product packages. At 1:30 a.m., the grand prize drawings are pulled. Grand prize drawings include items such as bikes, Oculus, computers and a large screen television.  Free food and drink will be available all night for the Comets and their dates.

SCC Junior Hunter Lowry expressed, “I have watched my siblings attend the APP and I am excited to finally experience the games and have a chance at the prizes myself.”

Senior Hannah Brady said, “I am most excited to play the inflatable games because we can be competitive while also having fun. Last year, I had a lot of fun with my friends and other people I don’t normally talk to. I also had the chance to win prizes if I was lucky enough and I’m excited to try to win again this year.”

After Prom Party coordinator, Tricia Lowry, and the APP Committee members have worked diligently to ensure that the event will be a success.   The committee extends a special thank you to everyone who donated to this great cause.  Making sure the students are safe is their foremost measure of success.

In order for this free event to be a success, St. Charles Catholic needs the community’s support. After Prom is strictly funded by donations and is non-profit.  Donations are still being accepted in the front office for this year’s event.  There is also an Amazon Wishlist of big-ticket items for the prize table.  To learn how you can participate, call 985-852-3809 or email Tricia Lowry at lowry.tricia@stcharlescatholic.org.
