The owner of a Mercedes stolen from a drive in Bishop’s Park has reported that the car has been spotted by police driving along the A120 towards Great Dunmow.
Emma Jones realised her husband Adam’s E-class had been taken from their drive in Peregrine Close after she spotted it missing at 6.45am on Tuesday.
She had left the house to walk her dog and first of all thought Adam may have gone to work early.
Although stolen by keyless car thieves, who have been plaguing the area for some months with Mercedes and BMWs popular targets, Emma was hopeful it would be traced as it had a tracker fitted.
She was told by the tracking company that the car, registration EX17 YTV, would probably be parked up somewhere for a few days before being moved on.
The owner of another Mercedes last month released CCTV footage of thieves scanning the side of his house before his car was driven away.
Officers from Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth Safer Neighbour Team have warned over a spate of keyless car thefts, advising owners to keep key fobs in a signal blocker pouch.
