JonTerez Broussard Obituary (2021) – Lafayette, LA

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for JonTerez Antonia Broussard, 20, who went to our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 30, 2021 after a week long battle at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum. Reverend Michael Russo, Pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Deacon Michael Crain and Deacon Randy Hyde will assist in the Funeral Mass. Survivors include her mother, Mary Connick Broussard; father, Robert Ray Broussard; sisters, Alexandra Rae Inez Broussard and AnnMarie Ynez Broussard; brothers, James Edward Knight and Robert Ray Vargas Broussard; maternal aunts, Nancy Ritchey and her husband Chris, Margaret “Peggy” Camalo and her husband, Frank; maternal uncles, Vincent Connick and his wife, Danie; paternal aunts, Cynthia “Sissy” Leger and her husband Ken, Katherine “Kathy” Harshfield, Kathleen “Kate” Kienitz; paternal uncle, Steve Broussard and his wife Jessica; 10 maternal cousins; 14 paternal cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James Paul Connick Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Adams Connick; paternal grandparents, John Raywood Broussard and Juanita Vargas Broussard; maternal aunts, Elizabeth Ann Connick; maternal uncles, Michael Francis Connick and Joseph Everest Connick; paternal uncle, Leroy Balencia. JonTerez attended school at St. Mary’s Early Learning Center, Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, St. Cecilia Catholic School, and St. Thomas More Catholic School and was a current student at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. JonTerez Antonia Broussard, beautiful daughter and baby sister, was born November 13, 2000. She was affectionately called “JT” by her friends and “JaJa” by her family. JaJa came into the world as a fearless fighter and left with the same vigor for life. A renegade like her ancestors, she was a self-directed authority who was infinitely passionate and tenacious about getting what she wanted. She fiercely valued loyalty in relationships and had a surprisingly insightful outlook around those dynamics. JonTerez achieved extraordinary skill in the arts of makeup, video, and social media. An accomplished documentarian and conductor of people, she was masterful at showing the beauty, humor, and awkwardness of life… every step of the way. Some of her favorite activities included: snow skiing in New Mexico and Colorado, working out at Red Lerille’s, reveling in quiet time, making Tik-Toks that would leave you in stitches, sunbathing, traveling to see the world with family and friends, and driving late-night to Whataburger with her sister AnnMarie. Her favorite traveling adventures were climbing the Mayan temples of Belize, eating gelato on the cobblestone streets of Rome, laying in the sun on the beach in Positano and Seaside, swimming in the Mediterranean Sea, skiing the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico, and delighting in the sights of Los Angeles, New York, Aspen, and Las Vegas. Her love for animals was paramount, and she was always looking out for even the smallest and least of God’s creatures. A young lady of innumerable aspirations and talents, JonTerez was on her way to graduating from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in International Marketing. Enthusiastic about her future, she envisioned herself living in Austin, Texas, working in Europe, and eventually becoming a loving mother and aunt. JonTerez will be remembered for her many admirable characteristics: hard-working, outgoing, joyful, spontaneous, endearing, creative, funny, strong, and willing to make amends with those she loved. An avid provocateur and “tickler” – of both people and animals – she was full of playful, mischievous laughter and kept a watchful eye towards her family’s protection. She was tenacious, tenacious, tenacious…and absolutely unrelenting in her pursuits, always figuring out her way there. She was determined to set the world on fire. There are no words to express the gravity and depth of our never-ending sorrow. A life without the beautiful and wonderful enigma of you is hard to imagine. We are devastated. We miss and love you, JonTerez. You are perfect in our eyes. We are delighted that you are in the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the blessed Mary, ever virgin, and all of the angels and saints and we will be with you in God’s time. Pallbearers will be James Edward Knight, Robert Ray Vargas Broussard, John Norman Broussard, Ryan Broussard, Jared Leger, and Jeffery Wixted. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Matte, Michael Matte, Byron Leger, Douglas Wixted, Francis Michael Connick, and Kaleb Ramos. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s Downtown location on Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Her immediate family members will share Eulogies at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed by her aunt Margaret “Peggy” Camalo on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in Miss Broussard’s name to Acadiana Animal Aid, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, in honor of St. Jude, Patron Saint of desperate cases and lost causes, and Voices for Awareness Foundation. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Broussard family to Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center nurses and staff, especially Dr. Kevin Hargrave; and Deacon Randy Hyde, Fr. Manny, Rev. Cedric Sonnier, and John Bernard for their intercessory prayers.
