Before hitting the big time as a comedian, John was a pharmaceutical rep.

But his big break in TV came when he appeared on The Panel, later securing the role of Rob Fitch in E4’s Skins in seasons three and four.
More recently Jon appeared on Doctor Who as companion Dan Lewis.
Besides acting and stand-up, John is a regular panellist on comedy shows including Have I Got News For You and A League Of Their Own.
Signalling a new route for John, in 2016 his talk show John Bishop: In Conversation With… debuted, and the star interviewed guests such as James Corden and Charlotte Church.
According to celebritynetworth.com, has an estimated net worth of £18million.
Devastating split from wife
John married his wife Melanie in 1993 and the couple have three sons together.
Their eldest son Joe was born in 1994, Luke their second son was born in 1996 and their youngest son Daniel was born in 1998.
And though the couple are happily married, they have experienced their ups and downs and briefly split up in 2000.
Speaking about the incident to The Mirror, the Doctor Who star said: “There was no huge fight or revelation about someone else. We just grew apart. Maybe it had something to do with having three kids so quickly. For six years there was always someone in the house in nappies.”
He added: “I couldn’t stop the tears from falling as I tried to get wellies on the lads.”
18 months later, Melanie visited a pub that John was performing at where his jokes on stage helped reunite the couple.
“We met up after the show and she said seeing me up there reminded her of me as I used to be. When I was a good laugh,” he said.

John and Melanie currently live on a farm in Northwich, Cheshire, after they were forced to sell their Grade II Listed mansion in 2019 to make way for the HS2 railway line.
After purchasing the seven bedroom property in 2011, the comedian reportedly sold the property for £6.8million to The Department of Transport.
John regularly uses his social media accounts to share photos of him and Melanie as well as to wish his sons a happy birthday.
However, in the past he has chosen to take some time away from social media following trolling incidents.
