Despite starting with drizzle and damp conditions, it has been declared an excellent choice of venue with plenty of covered seating.
The event was well attended with members providing delicious finger food and, of course, a very entertaining round of ‘Bad Santa’.
The sun eventually came out and Lynn Knight from the Barooga Botanic Gardens committee gave a very informative talk on the history of the gardens.
She expressed how important it is and how fortunate the community is to have consistent volunteer support.
As a special treat, Lynn opened the garden’s plant sales nursery, which is traditionally only open Tuesday mornings.
It was great to see so many old fashioned and contemporary plants for sale and members took advantage to purchase some treasurers and contribute to the maintenance of the gardens.

Craig and Bec Matheson, proud parents of Billie Matheson, recently attended her graduation ceremony to see her receive her diploma in beauty therapy.

That is not the only thing the Matheson family is celebrating this week.
Thirty years ago, Craig set up his own woodturning business in a small shed in Finley.
Craig had shown an interest in woodwork from an early age following in the footsteps of his father Allan.
Samples of his ability with a wood lathe include the restoration of pews at the Finley Catholic Church and the magnificent redwood alter and lectern donated to the church by the Braybon family in recent years.
Eleven year-old daughter Indie has played a role in the business as well.
She decided to put together a video presentation of the work done, and tools used in the business and sent it off to AEG Power Tools. The company was so impressed she was declared winner of a competition and received an amazing pack of power tools.
Daughter Lindsey is continuing the family trade by taking woodwork as an elective at school, and Bec complements the business as a laser engraver.

It was lovely to see so many out and about last Thursday to celebrate Australia Day, with Pam and Lloyd Angove no exception.
The couple always celebrate this special day in some way and, this year, travelled to Rutherglen to visit Campbell’s Winery where they had a lovely platter for lunch.
Pam and Lloyd are proud to be Australians and look forward each year to acknowledging the privilege to live in this wonderful country.
