Frank Daniel Hollobaugh, age 81 of Rose City and formerly of Ecorse passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2022.
Frank was born the 5th of 8 children to Gene A. Hollobaugh and Kathryn J. (Enright) Hollobaugh on July 13, 1941 in Delray Hospital.
He graduated from St. Francis Xavier (Ecorse) in 1960 and remained an active member of the SFX alumni association. Frank worked at River Rouge Savings Bank, the Ecorse DPW, Business Manager/Maintenance at St. Francis Xavier and finished his career as Maintenance Manager at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Trenton.
Frank lived in the family house on Woodward in Ecorse until his retirement where he moved to Muleshoe Lake in Rose City. There he enjoyed the peace and beauty of all his surroundings. You could always hear music in the background when you were at his home. His love for Jeannette McDonald and the music of the 40’s were his favorites as well as the comedians like Jack Benny and George and Gracie Allen. Rose Cottage provided many happy hours of sharing good times, meals and movies with his brothers Gene, Richard and Richard’s wife Jane who prepared meals for all the men with great love.
Frank was above all a gentleman. He dressed impeccably and conducted himself in a proper manner. Those at medical offices he visited would always remark on how he was their best dressed patient.
Frank was the person you wanted to have at a gathering or just to visit because of his great humor and endless knowledge on many subjects, especially history and movies. He made everyone feel comfortable and involved.
While Frank never had children of his own, he had countless nieces and nephews who considered themselves to be his children. He loved them all and they loved him in a very special way.
Frank is survived by his siblings Ronald (Gene) Hollobaugh, Mary Kay Stanton, Richard (Jane) Hollobaugh, Rita (David) Mogg and P. Susan Hollobaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Kathryn Hollobaugh, his brother Jack Hollobaugh, sister Dorothy (Swart) Collins, sister-in-law Shirley Hollobaugh, brother-in-law Haskell Stanton as well as nephews Allen Hollobaugh, Ted Evans, Matthew Evans, Eric Swart and Stephen Hollobaugh and Gerald Hollobaugh.
