Laoag Bishop Renato Mayugba, chairperson of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Biblical Apostolate reminded the faithful of the importance of the Word of God in their lives.
As the nation observes National Bible Month, the bishop cited the Holy Bible as a guide to living life the right way as well as a foundation to strengthen one’s faith.
“May I encourage everybody to make the Word of God a part of your life, a part of your homes. ; on The observance of the National Bible Month highlights the importance of the Word of God in our lives,” said Bishop Mayugba over Radio Veritas.
The theme for this year’s observance is “The Word leads to the Way, the Truth, and the Life” taken from St. John and the Prophet Isaiah.
“With the proliferation of fake news, we need the message of truth that can only come from the Bible, the Word of God,” the Church leader said.
“We will be able to deepen and strengthen our faith and our relationship with the Lord by reading and reflecting on the Holy Bible,” Bishop Mayugba added.
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Pro Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization of the Vatican recently led the word conference where he invited the faithful to make it a habit to read the Holy Bible.
President Duterte through Proclamation No. 124 declared the month of January as National Bible Month and the last Sunday of January as National Bible Sunday.
