To celebrate a happy wedding, a gorgeous, million-pound country house is not the standard gift for the newlywed couple.

However, a bishop had the striking house built as a gift for his son.

Dunbeg House, located on the shore of a Scottish loch, is now available on the market from £ 2million.

The property is surrounded by panoramic views of the water and nearby mountains, writes Manchester Evening News.

The incredible site has five bedrooms in the main house and even a cozy two-bedroom chalet, perfect for rental to vacationers.

The lucky owner will also be able to bask in the more than four acres of woodland surrounding the house.

Overlooking Bishop’s Bay, named after the generous clerk Bishop Alexander Chinnery-Haldane, the property has changed hands a few times over the past century.

The bishop commissioned well-known architects Ross & MacBeth to design Dunbeg for his son and new wife in the early 1900s.

The current owners bought the magnificent house 12 years ago.

Inspired by Swiss chalets, the home exudes vacation vibe and, with the beautiful scenery, it’s hard not to pretend you’re somewhere else in the world.

The Arts & Crafts Villa was used as a nursing home during WWII.

The neighboring house, Alltshellach House (which was the bishop’s own residence) became a hospital for wounded commandos.

Dunbeg has 5,812 square feet on four floors of housing.

An office, an office, a wine cellar, a cinema room, a bedroom and a bathroom are on the ground floor.

Going upstairs you come across a Piano Room, Reception Hall, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Living Room – which has a corner window seat fitted to take in the dramatic scenes across the bay.

There is also access to a balcony that spans almost the entire length of the south and east elevations, so you can see for miles from multiple angles at any time of the day.

On the third floor are four bedrooms and three bedrooms, perfect for guests, friends and family.

While on the top floor of the attic, a large room is currently used as an art workshop for all enthusiasts.

A detached double garage, added in 2014, includes a kitchenette, a powder room and even a games room / studio.

Bishop’s Bay Cottage, currently used as a vacation rental, was built in 2015.

It was run as an independent five star luxury destination and could continue, or be used as a guesthouse or as a multigenerational residence for a large family.

The two breathtaking houses lie on the shores of Bishop’s Bay on the north shore of Loch Leven, one of the most picturesque areas in the west of Scotland.

There’s also a barbecue and deck and pod with 360-degree views, a pier, a private pier, and a private pebble beach – proving you’ll never have an excuse to be bored.

Bishop’s Bay Cottage is surrounded by two acres of land itself and also has access to the bay and the loch.

Dunbeg offers breathtaking views of the Pap of Glencoe and the surrounding area has some of the best skiing, climbing, hiking, sailing, fishing and shooting in Scotland.

Angus Kelly of Bidwells estate agent said: “This is one of the best settings for a loch house on the west coast of Scotland.

“The house itself is rich in history but has been extensively renovated by the current owners and is finished to an exceptionally high standard.

“And it has access to one of the quietest and most beautiful bays in Loch Leven.”
