Death notice
Linda Jane Allen Egan passed into the care of Our Lord Jesus on December 15, 2022. Linda was loved deeply by all who knew her. She was born in Seattle, WA, on November 10, 1938. She attended Catholic school until high school where she attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle. While working at the phone company, Linda went to school at Everett Junior College where she met and later married Raymond Egan on September 30, 1961. They had two children, Brian and Katy. After Raymond graduated from CWU, they moved to Wenatchee, and a few years later, they moved to Spokane. Linda volunteered to be a playground teacher for recess at the schools where her children attended elementary, and then she worked in the family business until it was sold in 1983. She also managed a bookstore in Cheney for three years. Linda and Ray moved to Seattle where she worked for Trick and Murray selling office products. She loved working there and loved all the people she served. She led a fruitful and happy life, and to her family, she was known as “Mop Top.” Linda was passionate about her many interests. Her gardens were colorful and fun, and she was an excellent cook who loved entertaining family and friends. Her ability to decorate was her forte, and she loved to share the resulting beauty with all. Linda was a devout Catholic and loved serving Jesus. She taught religious education, decorated the churches where she lived, and went to orphanages to read to the children. She prayed fervently for all whom she loved which was everyone. Linda is preceded in death by her parents Wesley Allen and Myra (Kelly) Allen. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Raymond Egan; two children and their spouses: Brian Egan, Katy & Phil Walker; five siblings: Michael Allen, Jennifer Householder, Patty Carbone, Richard Allen, Stephen Allen; eight grandchildren: Wesley, Nick, and Jack, Erin, Andrew, Patrick, Christopher, and Luke; five great-grandchildren: Jaymeson, Kolbee, Arie, Sylas and one on the way. Linda loved them all, and they loved her beyond measure. Her greatest joys were the simplest of things and having her family around her was most important and truly the love of her life.
The Funeral Mass is scheduled at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to St Peter’s Catholic Church, Spokane, WA.
