McCONNELSVILLE — Joe Mayle snatched victory away from Sheridan on Tuesday.
After the Generals missed a free throw with seven seconds left, Mayle drilled a 3 at the buzzer, giving host Morgan a 54-53 victory in a Muskingum Valley League crossover.
Morgan took a 40-37 lead into the fourth quarter, only to see the Generals take a 53-51 lead in the closing seconds behind nine combined points from senior guards Raine Rodich and Reed Coconis.
But there was just enough time for Mayle to beat the buzzer for his first basket since the second quarter. He finished with seven points and a pair of 3s.
Carson Mummey scored 10 of his team-high 16 points in the second half for Morgan (8-9, 7-6 MVL-Small) and Rowdy Williams had a 3 among his 12 counters for the Raiders, who trailed 18-14 after a quarter and 31-27 at halftime.
Coconis scored nine of his 14 points in the first half and Rodich collected eight of his 10 in the second half for Sheridan (11-8, 7-6 MVL-Big), which also saw Andon Hamner score 10 of his 14 points in the first half.
Morgan overcame a 2-of-9 effort at the line. Sheridan was 8-of-12 at the stripe, but missed 3 of 4 in the fourth quarter.
Ten players scored as Sheridan rolled to a 73-42 reserve win. Logan Hupp scored 13 points and Gavin Emmert 11 for Sheridan; Tavian Myers tallied 16 points for Morgan.
New Lexington 37, Crooksville 26: Isaac Dick scored all 15 of his points in the second half, including a 10-of-13 effort at the line, as the visiting Panthers got past the pesky Ceramics in MVL Small School Division play.
Crooksville (3-15, 1-12) led 7-2 through one quarter, but New Lex (16-3, 10-3) rallied to take a 15-10 edge into the half, as Isaiah Stephens scored six of his 11 points in the second quarter.
Dick accounted for all seven of the Panthers’ points in the third by hitting a 3 and making all four of his free throw attempts, as the Panthers were up 22-18 entering the fourth.
Dick was 6 of 7 at the line, along with a hoop, and Ryan Hobbs added four of his six points in the fourth to help New Lex seal the win. He also had five rebounds, Stephens chipped in five steals and four rebounds and Lukas Ratliff corralled six boards for the Panthers, who were just 10-of-36 shooting, but made 16 of 24 at the line and grabbed 10 offensive rebounds.
Konlan McIntyre had eight of his 11 points in the second half and Ryan Moore also scored 11 for the Ceramics, who were 11 of 28 from the floor and 3 of 5 at the line. They also had 19 turnovers to 12 by New Lex.
Maysville 78, Philo 41: Alex Bobb led three Panthers in double figures with 17 points, and visiting Maysville remained atop the Big School Division with the win.
Hayden Jarrett collected six of his 16 points and Bobb and Cole Roberts added five apiece in a 24-12 first quarter for the Panthers, who built a 48-29 halftime lead, as Bobb scored nine and Jarrett six in the second quarter.
Wesley Armstead added 12 points and Roberts and Larimer scored eight each for the Panthers, who had 10 players scored and were up 66-37 through three quarters.
Cade Searls collected 18 points and Drew Wright added eight for the Electrics (4-14, 4-9).
Rosecrans 72, Miller 37: Grady Labishak, who made 8 of 9 from the field, and Weston Hartman each scored 20 points in a Mid-State League Cardinal Division win for the Bishops (15-2).
Labishak had 10 points and Hartman seven in the first quarter, as Rosecrans was up 27-9 through one. The lead was 45-19 at the half, as Labishak made two of his four 3s in the second quarter.
Labishak finished with a double-double thanks to 11 assists, and Xander Daniels chipped in eight points and eight rebounds, as 10 Rosecrans players had at least two points.
Rosecrans made 29 of 55 field goals and 11 of 26 behind the arc. The Bishops also owned a 35-25 advantage on the boards, including 10-2 on the offensive glass, and committed just six turnovers.
The Falcons were held to 15-of-44 shooting and had 14 turnovers.
Coshocton 77, Meadowbrook 51: Colton Conkle poured in 22 points to go with eight assists and five steals, as the host Redskins (7-10, 5-9) led 20-10 after one quarter in a MVL Small School win.
Antwone Johns added 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting with five rebounds and four steals, Bentley Cunningham scored 10 and Coby Moore chipped in eight markers for the winners, who led 36-20 at the half and 59-33 through three.
Coshocton made 31 of 63 from the field and owned a 37-28 edge on the glass with 13 offensive rebounds, while the Colts (0-18, 0-13) were held to 17-of-49 shooting with 25 turnovers.
Colton Delancey finished with 14 points and six rebounds and Dayne Singleton had 12 points and eight rebounds to pace the Meadowbrook attack.
