CANAL WINCHESTER — Grady Labishak and Weston Hartman combined for 36 points, as visiting Rosecrans made Harvest Prep work for a 64-53 victory in Tuesday’s Mid-State League Cardinal Division battle.
The Warriors raced out to a 22-8 advantage through one quarter, but Hartman drilled three 3s and Labishak hit another during a 22-point second quarter that pulled the Bishops (8-2) within 35-30 at the half.
Rosecrans stayed close and trailed 49-39 after three, while Labishak had nine points and Brendan Bernath added five in the fourth before the upset bid came up short.
Labishak tallied 19 points with four assists, Hartman finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Xander Daniels added eight points and eight boards and Bernath dished out five assists in the losing effort.
James Goggin also had seven rebounds, as the Bishops held a 34-30 edge on the boards.
Rosecrans made 19 of 48 field goals, 8 of 24 behind the arc and 7 of 9 free throws, while Harvest Prep was 25 of 58 from the floor, 6 of 28 on 3s and 8 of 16 at the line.
Licking Valley 56, Zanesville 54: Chase Vermillion collected 15 points, as the visiting Panthers rallied past the Blue Devils in Licking County League play.
Rashaud Hampton had a game-high 24 points and Xavier Riley added 14 for Zanesville (1-10), which led after each stoppage, 13-9 after one, 26-20 at the half and 37-36 through three.
Hampton and Riley combined for 21 first-half points.
Jacob Wheeler added 11 and Jacob Curry 10 for Valley.
New Lexington 58, Crooksville 22: Isaiah Stephens poured in 16 points with four rebounds and a pair of steals, as the Panthers (10-3, 5-3) cruised past the visiting Ceramics (1-10, 0-8) in a Muskingum Valley League Small School Division tilt.
Stephens had nine points and Bentley Hanson added five points in a 17-4 first quarter for the winners, while the lead grew to 29-8 at the half, as Stephens had seven in the second.
Lukas Ratliff chipped in nine points, four boards and three assists, Isaac Dick added eight points and three assists, Malakye Thresher finished with eight counters and nine caroms and Hanson had six points and five boards for New Lex, which knocked down 23 of 45 field goals and 7 of 15 3s.
The Panthers also held a 31-14 edge on the glass.
Ryan Moore tallied eight points for Crooksville, which was held to 9-of-41 shooting and missed all 18 of its 3-point attempts.
Maysville 58, Morgan 36: The host Panthers (12-0, 8-0) needed more than a half to shake off the Raiders (5-7, 4-4) in a MVL crossover.
Morgan led 14-13 after one and 29-27 at the half before Maysville surged ahead 43-34 entering the final stanza.

West Muskingum 71, River View 66: The Tornadoes (8-3, 6-1) fended off the visiting Black Bears (5-6, 1-6) to stay atop the MVL Small School Division.
West M led 18-15 through one quarter, 34-30 at the half and 48-46 going to the fourth.

Coshocton 60, Meadowbrook 35: Bentley Cunningham poured in 18 points with three triples, as the visiting Redskins (4-6, 2-6) routed the Colts (0-8 MVL) in a Small School clash.
Colton Conkle fell just shy of a triple-double with 14 points, 10 steals and eight assists and Coby Moore scored 11 with five rebounds for Coshocton, which led 14-10 through one before building a 31-15 halftime advantage. The lead was 45-21 going to the fourth.
Colton Delancey had nine points and Justice Huey added eight points and nine rebounds to pace Meadowbrook.

Fisher Catholic 57, Rosecrans 26: Ellie Bruce poured in 25 points and Voni Bethel added 10, as the Irish topped the Bishops (8-6) in MSL Cardinal Division play.
