Dear friends in Christ,
The Diocese of Salt Lake City, for more than 100 years, has been blessed to have the Intermountain Catholic, which is an essential source of information for Catholics in Utah. The paper has gone through many changes since it began publication in 1899, and today is available online as well as in a print edition.
As our official diocesan newspaper, it provides essential local news and coverage of pastoral activities and events throughout our state, as well as information about the Church in the United States and the world. Its pages offer excellent resources for the catechesis necessary for our faith formation, inspiring stories from the lives of saints and offers spiritual guidance.
The Intermountain Catholic is published weekly and continues to be a significant tool in our mission of evangelization, sharing the Gospel and reaching many Catholics and non-Catholics in Utah and beyond. The paper regularly receives awards for excellence. It also connects the Church with the faithful and them with each other, promoting and enhancing the spirit of unity that builds our communion as the Body of Christ.
In addition to its regular coverage, this coming year, the Intermountain Catholic will publish information about our diocesan Eucharistic Revival, which is our part of the three-year grassroots renewal of devotion and belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist that has been called for by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. You will find articles about events at local parishes, reflections about the Eucharist, and other information to help the faithful learn more about the Holy Eucharist as the “source and summit of Christian life” (Catechism of the Catholic Church).
I encourage all our parishioners to subscribe to our diocesan newspaper and receive it weekly.
