Catherine Ann “Kitty” Kochman, an outstanding active selfless member of the Weirton Community passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022. She was 85.
Kitty was born in Steubenville, OH on January 3, 1937, to Nino and Helen DeSimone Musitelli.
She graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School in 1954.
On February 10, 1975, she married Edward Kochman. Ed said “I was first attracted by her outer beauty but fell in love with her inner beauty. They were married for 47 years.
Kitty retired from United Bank, where she served the Weirton community for 38 years, retiring as the Assistant Vice-President of the United Bank – Weirton.
Kitty’s tremendous energetic nature and kind heart had her donating more than three decades of her time volunteering with many local organizations in the Weirton Area.
She held every office in the Weirton Kiwanis and served as the Lieutenant Governor for the State of West Virginia. Kitty was very instrumental in the Kiwanis Radio Auction Fundraiser year after year.
She was an officer and member of the Weirton Salvation Army Advisory Board, where she volunteered countless hours ringing the bell for the Christmas Kettles.
She also served with the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce, Weirton United Way, Weirton Women’ Club, Weirton Museum, March of Dimes, Boy Scouts of America – Ohio River Valley Council, Weirton Renaissance and was a board member of the Mary H. Weir Public Library. As a member of the Republican Women’s, she worked many of the local elections.
Kitty was honored, excited and humbled to be inducted into the Weirton Hall of Fame for Public Service and to be recognized by Weirton’s former city manager, Joseph DiBartolomeo as an outstanding member of the Weirton Community.
Most of all Kitty will be remembered as a selfless servant with a beautiful spirit. Who would have ever guessed she was 85 years old?
She was a faithful member of the Weirton Covenant Church, where she never missed a Sunday Service.
In addition to her parents, Kitty was preceded in death by her brother, Alex Musitelli.
She will be remembered with love and admiration by her husband Edward Kochman; her two sons, Brad (Melissa) Evans and John Evans; her daughter, Rhonda (Philip) Browne; her six grandchildren, Chad (Alicia) Camp, Philip Evans, David Evans, Andrew Browne, Aaron Browne, and Allie (Ryan Echard) Browne; her great grandchildren, Jaxon, Liam, Cash, Eva, and Charlotte Camp.
Visitation will be 10 AM until time of funeral services at 11 AM Thursday at the Weirton Covenant Church.
Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville.
