Having had to suspend its concert series since March 2020, music@stansted has arranged a free outdoor concert to whet people’s appetite for the return of live music-making to the village.
Professional trumpeter David Clewlow, who has recently moved to the area, and his colleagues in the Brook Brass ensemble will perform in the gardens of St John’s Church in Stansted on Sunday September 5 at 4pm.
Brook Brass, based in east London, give solo concerts as well as collaborations with choirs, such as the Nine Lessons and Carols service at their home church in Wanstead and the traditional Walthamstow Town Square community carols sing-along.
The group’s repertoire ranges from the stirring brass sonorities of Gabrieli to 1980s pop classics, via Mozart, Henry Mancini and Hungarian folk songs, all introduced by the musicians themselves – truly something for everyone!
For the outdoor concert on September 5, anyone is welcome to take chairs or rugs and sit and enjoy an hour of live music with friends and family in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere.
Admission is free, although donations to the musicians will be welcomed. The concert will go ahead only if weather permits.
A club spokesman said: “music@stansted look forward to welcoming music lovers back to Stansted at last.”
