A court in Hong Kong sentenced pro-democracy advocate, Joshua Wong, to thirteen and a half months in prison, while two others were sentenced to several months for organizing protests in the former British territory. China has been tightening control on Hong Kong after months of demonstrations. The author of “The Coming Collapse of China”, Gordon Chang, joins to share his reaction on the news coming out of Hong Kong and what message he thinks this sends to those considering criticizing the Chinese government. Chang also gives his perspective on the recent reports that the Chinese government may have withheld information related to its COVID-19 outbreak and reports that presumptive President-elect Joe Biden wants to strengthen the country’s negotiating position with China.
